THE NEW DUAL CORE ATOM NAMED – ATOM 330

Atom 330 dual core performs a whooping 1.6GHz. In this innovative up gradation in the processor sector the unit supports its two cores with four threads. Intel projects to get underway its 1st dual-core Atom based Central Processing Units in Quarter 3. We scooped out some more fine points and a lot of of them were quite straightforward to guess upon. The new-fangled dual core Atom will end up tagged as the Atom 330, and just as the likes of the single-core Atom 230, the dual-core Central Processing Unit will spruce up at 1.6GHZ. It has an overall 1MB cache of memory, which is comparatively twice as much as the single core Atom 230 processor. We would recommend that Intel in point of fact has 2x512KB L2 cache, as the particular cache is not communal between the cores.

The FSB remains the same at 533MHz and this is also because of the limitations incurred by the chipset, but, of course, on some boards you will be proficient to over clock, at least the FSB rates. The Central Processing Unit and its 2 cores shore up 4 threads and the splendid TDP snaps at 8W, which is absolutely an immense consequence for a dual core Central Processing Unit. This is comparatively a far healthier TDP than the largest part of Intel mobile CPUs that’s making its rounds around.

HALERON UNVEILS SWORDFISH NETBOOK WITH ATOM 330

Haleron surprised the world a few weeks ago by announcing a netbook sporting two separate Intel Atom N270 processors. It is not sure whether the concept will materialize, but now the company has unveiled another netbook with an Intel Atom 330 processor. Called Swordfish 20, the new device is powered by a dual core Atom 330 processor with 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive.

The Atom 330 is a processor usually found on desktops. While it offers better performance than the netbook specific N270/N280, it also consumes more power.

The Swordfish 20 netbook is equipped with a 10.2 inch display featuring 1024x600 pixels. The standard storage option is a 160GB hard drive, but you can opt for a 250GB drive. Other specifications include Bluetooth, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, 3 USB ports, VGA, Ethernet, a 5-in-1 card reader and a 1.3MP webcam. It has a 6 cell battery and an unlocked 3G modem. Prices start at $499.

PINEVIEW ATOM PROCESSORS DONT COME CHEAP

Intel is expected to release the official details of its next generation Pineview Atom processors at the Intel Developer Forum scheduled to be held on September 22. The Pineview platform has chips aimed at the netbook/mobile devices.

Unoffical sources claim that the N450 Atom clocking at 1.66GHz will carry a price tag of $64. The faster N470 Atom having a clock speed of 1.83GHz will cost around $75.

Currently the most popular processor for netbooks is the 1.6GHz N270 Atom. It costs just $44. Compared to this the new processors are expensive and will make netbooks costlier. The inclusion of Windows 7 will further push the prices up.

INTEL TO DISCONTINUE Z SERIES ATOM PROCESSORS FOR NETBOOKS

According to media reports, Intel has stopped accepting orders for its Z-series Atom processors. Originally meant for use in the Mobile Internet Devices (MID), the Z-series processors are now commonly used in netbooks like Eee PC T91, Sony VAIO P and Dell Mini 12.

Intel plans to completely stop the supply of Z-series chips to netbook manufacturers by the end of this year. The chipmaker will still fulfill orders already placed by Acer, Asustek and MSI. Meanwhile, Intel’s new generation of Atom chips are scheduled for release later this year. These new chips are part of the Pine Trail platform.
