HOW TO CLEAN A LAPTOP COMPUTER

Your laptop needs to be thoroughly cleaned at least once a year. The recommended cleaning procedure for laptops differs from model to model. So read your User’s Manual before you clean your laptop.

Cleaning the Exterior
You can clean the exterior of your laptop with a soft damp cloth. Do not use a scratchy or abrasive cloth for cleaning. Also avoid using harsh cleaning agents. Do not spray the cleaning solution directly onto the casing of the laptop. You need to spray it on to the cloth first and then wipe the casing thoroughly.

Cleaning the cooling vents
Use a bottle of compressed air to clean the cooling vents. Don’t spray hard. Use cotton swabs to hold fans in place while you clean them.

I/O PORTS:
You can wipe away large pieces of dirt that may have accumulated in the ports with cotton swabs. You can also blow compressed air on to the ports.

Cleaning the Display
Use a non-abrasive cotton cloth for cleaning the display. Do not use ammonia based cleaning solutions as they will leave a film. Do not spray the cleaning solution directly on to the display. Spray on the cloth first and then wipe the screen with the cloth.

Cleaning keyboard
Use compressed air or cotton swabs to remove the dirt build-up in and around the keys. With some laptop models you can remove the keys for cleaning. Read your user manual to see whether yours allow this. Be sure to put the keys back into their proper places after you are done cleaning them.
